Dua is such a beautiful gift from Allah Subhana Wa Ta’ala.
But problem arises when we ask for something that is not good for us.
Sure, Allah Subhana Wa Ta’ala will give you what you ask for, but that doesn’t mean it is good for you.
For instance, if a really close relative is in ICU. And they are suffering from extreme pain. What will be your dua? Emotionally you want them to heal.
But what you don’t realize is that they have a disease which is causing more pain if they’re alive.
Now, what will be your dua? I am sure it will be, to ask Allah Subhana Wa Ta’ala to relieve their pain, and the only way they can be at peace is if they die.
Yes, it sounds painful, and in reality, it is. But as Muslims, we have hope & trust on Allah Subhana Wa Ta’ala. We believe that everything happens for a reason.
So, what is the proper way to make dua?
Always ask in this manner:
“Ya Allah! If this thing is good for me, give me, otherwise take it away.”
Now, you have two benefits. First, you are asking Allah Subhana Wa Ta’ala for something you want, and second, you’re asking to give only if is right for you.
This is like making smart dua.
I am not a mufti, nor a religious preacher, but what I can do, is to share things that have worked for me and might work for you too.
